Great macro pics , sharpness and clarity terrific, exposure on target and composition too. I like pic 1 because of the background around the subject , the contrast of the green and the bug enhances the full effect for me.

Definitely the second image for me, Erik.
The antennae are in a better position, the light reflection on the shieldbug's back is reduced and a less distracting background.
Incidentally, we call them Spiked Shieldbugs here because of those two pointed spikes on the edges just behind the head.

Pic #1, the angle of view has a dimensional feel to it.
