Helpful Posts: The rocky mountain bighorn sheep have returned to the valley floor of Jackson Hole Wyoming from their summer home in the high mountains. Two days ago a herd of fifteen ewes and lambs were on the National Elk Refuge. Yesterday these seven rams appeared. Within a week the rut will begin. The rams will start butting heads and pursue the ewes in heat. I plan to spend a fair amount of time observing and photographing this happening. Once the rut begins things get wild.

Very nice image. You say there are seven rams in the photo. I an only see four. Is this a case of counting the legs and dividing by four?

Thank you all for the comments. John, I liked your question. I counted the legs and when I divided I got six and three quarters sheep. I don't know what happened to the other 1/4. There really were seven. It was a good day.
