    Milky Way first attempt.

    I tried my first attempt at a Milky Way photo last night. It shows the region around Cygnus...

    Milky Way first attempt.

    Canon EOS 60D. Canon EF 35mm 1.4L lens. ISO 1600 - f/1.4 - 10 sec - long exposure noise reduction on.

    It seems to have worked reasonably well, but I would rather not have all the brightest stars turn out pink! Any suggestions on how I can improve this? Or, is this just a limitation of the equipment that I should try to remove in Lightroom?

    Have you considered converting to black and white and doing more processing?

    I tried it at home and kind of liked it. Could post the result with your permission.

    Caveat: I am not an Astro-photographer, don't own a Canon and don't use LR.

    Here y'are:

    Milky Way first attempt.

    Processed your post in RawTherapee which you may not have.

    Converted to B&W using luminance method then played with the black level, tone curve and contrast. Forgot to sharpen it/adjust micro-constrast which might have helped . . .

    I think I may have found a clue to the pink star problem. Search for "Spherochromatism" here... https://www.lonelyspeck.com/focusing-at-night/

    It looks like I may need to take a bit more care with my focussing.

    I'd call that axial chromatic aberration, but I must admit, while I have encountered it rather closer to home, it hadn't occurred to me it might apply all the way 'out there'.
