The person who started this thread did not know. I think George gets it now too.

    So there's one reason why.

Is that a valid reason in your world, or not?

Others have already told you that, in a larger gamut working space, major editing trips out-of-sRGB-gamut and back can be made without artifacts appearing in the review image.

    Is that true or not?

Trying to get George to agree to something is like pulling teeth, so don't hold y'all's breathe . . .
I want to know the WHY.
    I'm getting to something.

George - I have figured out a way to show why one should work in a wider-gamut workspace than the screen can display. This will be of general interest to other users, so I am planning to start a new thread with the explanation and accompanying diagrams. Unfortunately, I am going to be a bit busy this morning and tomorrow, so can't guarantee when I will post it, but is should be in the next day or two. I will PM you when I have done so.

Manfred, perhaps you could, in this thread, post a link to the new thread once you've created it? I've found the discussion interesting and don't want to miss its continuation.

No I haven’t. I had an unexpected photo shoot request on Thursday and have another one today, so those are taking priority. I delivered one set of finished images yesterday. I expect to be tied up doing today’s shoot post processing by Wednesday, if all goes well.

Okay - finally done. Hopefully it will make sense to the readers.

Here is the link to the new thread:

Why one should use a wide colour space when editing images on a narrow gamut screen
