Long Landscape
Using a long lens can often be quite productive for a landscape. In the same way that a wide angle or ultra wide angle can give a different perspective, so to can a long telephoto. This was captures at 400mm on a full frame body.
Any comments and critique will always be welcome.

Re: Long Landscape
Some of my favorite landscapes were taken with a long lens, nice leading lines.

Re: Long Landscape
It's beautiful. I hadn't realized that long lens landscapes could be so personal and evocative. How lovely.

Re: Long Landscape
Donald, a really beautiful image. I am not sure that I can say correctly what I want to say but here goes....this image demands to be viewed. It merits more than a quick glance.

Re: Long Landscape
Absolutely stunning. And without the compression from the long lens, the lines in the foreground not be as striking.

Re: Long Landscape
Great capture
What will impact the illusion of compression in a landscape is the use of a long focal length. Donald realizes this and used the 400mm to great advantage in his very nice capture.
However, many photographers have tunnel vision when it comes to landscape imagery and automatically choose wide focal lengths, disregarding the excellent work that can be done with long focal lengths...

Re: Long Landscape
Ah, Donald, magnificent, one of your best that I have seen, so best taken in that context. My immediate thought was to crop appreciably from the top. However, my views on cropping have just had a major rethink, so I hang fire and ponder.
I very much enjoy this image, nevertheless!!

Re: Long Landscape
I too am a fan of long lens landscape photography. In this instance I like the tight focus on a particularly linear section of these fields.
