He looks majestic and intelligent. Great emotion in the picture.
Nice capture.
Griddi, nice photo.
Bruce
Everything is in sharp focus while the background is nicely blurred.
Thank you Catherine......
Griddi.....
is it my imagination or is the nose in focus and the eyes slightly out?
Griddi - overall it's an excellent image and shows the majesty of the animal.
Like you, I like going to the zoo, but I have mixed feelings about the constraints put on the animals. For example, when I see a an animal pacing back and forth it's a sign it wants to be roaming - many top-tier predators have very large hunting areas. Countering that is the fact that at least the animals are not being hunted to extinction... It's a difficult call, but probably best solved by having large parks where it is practical, but alas not in a city.
As others have said, Griddi, it's a great photo, and this particular lion has a great mane, too!
I can see this image being used in the dictionary to describe the word "REGAL".
Nice shot!
I agree with you completely about keeping animals in closures, I also hate horse racing's, incl. anything who animals have to perform for the amusement of people........
For some years we have now ( I live in a beach suburb of Adelaide ) a free range zoo, called " Monarto " about 80km from Adelaide, one is driven around there with a bus, so only photos through the bus windows, although just about one week ago one can visit the lions sort of " Between them " that is a enclosed space for the visitors, while the lions are roaming free outside.......
So far I have not visited, but will in the new Year, besides one has to book ahead, cost about $A60.00 , at the moment the big rush is on to this visit, but I will wait till about March, when the weather will be a bit cooler, and hopeful less visitor around .......
Griddi.......
You did a nice job. I like that I can appreciate his whiskers and hair.
