Rob inspired me to visit an old cemetery. This is one of my photos from Friday. I have a few more from the cemetery with textures if anyone is interested.

I'd like more too, Raylee. I have been haunting cemeteries, looking for angels like this for ages, but around here, they all seem to have lost their heads.

Super! You know, with the tilt of the first and being able to see the background in the second, they feel very edgy - like one can feel in a graveyard. (Please forgive me if I am being insensitive to anyone.) They're very beautiful, though. More, please?

Raylee, can I sugest some work on this photo ?
I hope you answer me positively because here it goes.

I like - just me - best the canvas on the first proposal. Far more. The sepia tone - subtle - is fantastic and appropriate in both.
On the last one the "stones" (I don't know the proper noun) are too intrusive, aren't they ? Perhaps if you cloned them completely...
And if you rotate the crop clockwise a bit more ? Care to try ?

I know he's knocking on a bit but give the guy a break

I like what you have done with these Raylee. I am not sure what it is but the processing just seems right for the subject. The only things that strike me is that in the first image I think you need to lose the black trees/bushes in the lower part of the image and in the second the two grave stones in the background need to be cloned out. In both cases they are distracting and take some of the polish away from the images...too incidental/accidental if that makes sense

Raylee, I really love those cemetery shots -- I've been eying cemeteries myself lately, though I haven't stopped in. When we had open studios this fall I visited a woman who was doing layered/textured photographs, and she would print the angel part on a transparency and then paint it with gold on the back side, then layer that over another photograph -- it was really beautiful.

I went to an orchid society show today; it was very crowded and the light was horrible but I got a couple of shots. Here's one --

I'm having fun with these. This one is completely different. The texture has been made from another cemetery photo plus a a couple of textures and just playing with the settings. I liked the colours it produced. It won't be to everyone's taste.

I like the green on the headstone. Is that from PP or the texture? I, personally, like this angel, too. Sorry, don't know what to critique!

Elise, you know that those orchids with that gorgeous texture are right to my taste, too!!!

They are quite nice both of them.
And this last one is simply gorgeous. Very good work. Very nice. I particularly like the string curve of the wing...

This headstone was shaded by a large tree so there was moss growing on it. This one is quite sad - I'm a dreadful romantic when it comes to history: it's the grave of 2 children, one died in 1877 aged 9 months and 23 days and the other died in 1880 aged 8 years 3 months and 10 days. These people lived very hard lives in unforgiving conditions.

Sorry to neglect you Elise. I like this one too. It has an oriental feel to it for me. Beautiful colours.

Raylee, I really like what you did with the last one -- I agree with Antonio, very strong composition. Very nice work.

Raylee, the two edits are far better and the last headstone posted is very atmospheric. You have conveyed a real Victorian gothic feel with these. When these work they really are worth the effort expended. I like the last angel best of all because the textures in the subject and the background complement each other perfectly. The heavenward gaze is also a nice touch.

Elise, you are obtaining a very professional polish to these latest images. There is not much more to say really. It just works.

Sue Henry does some interesting things with textures...but I think you have he edge

Thanks for sharing her website with me, Steve -- I'm not sure I have the edge there. Her pictures are very nice.

Raylee, the backgrounds on the first and last ones are great. Are those your own creation?

Raylee, this is simply outstanding. The overlay, although quite strong, gives such beautiful colour and texture to it. Beautiful!
