Elise this one is for you.
Not a master piece I do know...

I dig in my safe and I found this flower. I overlapped it with a wall texture ( !! ), wrote the sentence and transformed it at will.
As usual, infinite variations are possible.

Oh, Antonio, now I think you are challenging me -- maybe I have to get to work --

    Experiment

Please tell me sincerely - as usual - what do you think of this image ?
Does it convey any feeling to you ? Any emotion ?
What could have happened to this man ? Do you pose this question ?
    A disaster ? I mean the picture, is it a flop ?
I am sure that to some, yes. And I am also sure that to some, it is not.

The image you posted is great. It represents for me a state of mind of both, yours or her's doesn't matter. The separation of these supposed to be two frames/images is great with the tearing in the middle.
One half in colour and the other in black and white.
It means there have been something broken, there have been something appart, separated from the other. I am repeating myself.
The waves also introduce the idea of time going by on its endless come and go.

I am not sure - am I ? - but these kind of images have to be contextualized, integrated in a theme, whichever it is.
My inspiration for the so important theme I was talking about in my interview in CiC, comes straightly from Fritz Liedtke and his project Skeleton in the closet which leads to important situation of life of Human Beings.

I reveal now... no. Better say: I give you today a glimpse of what is my project for the year to come. I have contacted the right person to do it and I have a scheduled meeting/appointment for January to talk about it. As I said before it will be an endless theme but it may lead to broader horizons as other themes will come.

I am not sure if I explained myself correctly regarding this "glimpse" of one of the 2011 themes.
And yes, I saw Liedtke work on Silvershotz.

Excuse me Chris but this one, I don't like. It says nothing to me.
It has no meaning to me that is.
I am sure you feel the same about my images sometimes.

We can't like everything can we ?

Antonio, not a flop, no. I like the use of the blank space and the colours play an unusual complement to each other. Personally I would have omitted the mid/top triangular area or given it more opacity. The more I view it the more I like it. The biggest problem I have is that as a graphic image it is fine but for me the image is not stimulating my mind.it does not take me anywhere...if you get my meaning.

    Just dinking around
Chris, that is an unfortunate title for this piece because it takes any depth out of the background to the image. If you had called it sexual confusion or tranvestism it would prompted the viewer to perhaps the uncomfortable thoughts that can make an image very powerful. Having said that, title or no, it certainly prompted the subject in my own mind and as such it works. I quite like these type of images because it is a bit like an artist scribbling randomly on the canvas and having a damn good laugh as the critics try to read the artists thoughts through the image. For me it does not matter since I am not interested in what the photographer was thinking or not thinking. I am only interested in my own response.

Here's one more...I was a graphic designer for a number of years and the previous post and this post are examples of the type of work I did for a variety of magazines such as Psychology Today. This one does not convey the descriptive intent for me. It is nowhere near as stimulating as the first image. I can see where you are coming from with this but it is not black enough in mood for me. You talk about secondhand insight into mental complexities (learning if you like) but for me the creator has to have had the first hand experience (or memory) of mental excursion to be able to convey truth. Now it may be that you are trying to get a first hand experience over in the image but it does not stimulate introspect in me personally.

I do like it as an image Chris and it does remind me of the puddle and the telegraph pole....maybe a series of images would convey a more intriguing insight?

Thank you Steve. Perhaps - like you said yourself in the end - you (the others and myself) would need more images (a series) to convey a feeling. And this applies to Chris' and mine.
I have been working on the new project/theme I want to do at this very moment and I saw that the images of the Skeleton in the closet wouldn't have so much impact as if they were seen alone.
Some images have to be contextualized in favor of their own strength.

Much as I would like to Antonio, I cannot disagree with you This one draws me in and I can never get to the bottom of it's depths. The colours are gorgeous and the balance of tone and texture are spot on. Great work Antonio.

And however... however I started from a blurred photo turned it to black and white, placed another layer on top - door rusted car - and played with the melting modes.
As simple as that. I decided to stop here.
Thank you Steve. I am happy with this image.

No, and I've decided this thread is not for me and have withdrawn my original images. Nothing personal, just not my cup of tea.

    I suspected this.
I am sorry. Very sorry. Indeed I am.
    Because of me...
I thought you would not be offended but I was wrong.
    I really am terribly sorry.

Re: Into the depths of..........we sometimes go.

Please do not feel this way. I did this sort of thing for years. I was pretty good at it and while I did it, I enjoyed the time...but for now, what I really need to concentrate on is being a better, regular, every day kind of photographer. I need to spend my time really understanding the depths of my camera, redeveloping my own "voice," as we say in writing, and to push my own personal limits as far as I can...who knows, perhaps some day this may indeed become another venue.
You are a kind soul and I know you have a voice in you that calls to this sort of imagery. I wish you well with it, though wonder if at some point, this voice calls louder to you than the majority of the voices on here and you will have to seek more of your kind, less of ours...it is just a thought, my friend, but please, again, do not despair over my whys and whims.

Thumbs up from me on this one Antonio. I love the colours and the shapes. I find it - like a lot of your images - mesmerising. Please keep them coming!

Still working on my bouquet of tulips -- I was trying for a kind of Impressionist feel on this one. Is it too bright?

That is very striking Elise. I'd like to see a version with less saturation if impressionism is what you are aiming for. But I think that works as it is.
