I've burnt my boat!

Well not my boat but hopefully you'll get my drift with the title.

I wasn't sure about converting this image to mono as I'm never comfortable with this type of processing. For this I used camera raw in Photoshop following a tutorial in a book by a person whose first name begins with an "S" and the surname beginning in "K". Sometimes it's good to practice. But I may return to the image and try it with NIK filters.

For the very observant on the forum the wind turbines in the background are part of the wind farm that featured in my recent "Powerful Elements" thread LINK

As always your thoughts/comments are welcome.

#2 following on from the comments received for #1 above. This is the image processed using the NIK Silver Efex. I would be interested on your views comparing the two processing methods ?

You may not be comfortable with the processing, but your good at it.

That's a good conversion. There a variety of tones and they are well placed across the image. The image has got good lines that take you through from front to back and the shape of the boat lends itself well to the B & W treatment.

Great work! My preference is for the second conversion. The first left the sand too dark. Of course I have not seen the actual so I really shouldn't judge.

Hi Peter,

I love the deeper, richer blacks in the first image. The second has a bunch of shades off grey which makes it less interesting for me as a viewer. Just my 2 cents. YMMV as they say.
