how to determine depth of field

Hi guys, I have a question concerning DOF - I recently purchased Nikkor 10-24 DX lens. being DX it hasn't got aperture scale on the barrel.For hyperfocal (or any )focusing) one would normally place your distance(s) you want in focus at your aperture mark. Now that is impossible. How would I determine my DOF with a lens like that? Thank you for your help.

DoF Tables? DoF Calculator (eg iPhone app) (that's what I use).

The easiest way is to buy a depth of field calculator such as the 'Expoaperture2' or similar which are handy sized disc calculators about 100mm diameter. Alternatively if you have an iPhone or Android phone you can get an 'ap' that will do the calculation.

You can select your camera, the lens focal length, and use either metric or Imperial units.

They can be printed on small cards that fit into a shirt pocket. I used mine today for a 24 mm lens on a 5DII.

Does your camera include the ability to stop down and view your image at the aperture at which you are shooting. This will show you the depth of field, although the viewfinder is often dim when doing this, especially when shooting at smaller apertures. However, when shooting with smaller apertures, the DOF is wider and usually not as much of a problem...

I was given a Canon 50mm Mark-II lens. When Canon switched from the Mark-I model to the Mark-II, they eliminated the distance scale as one of their economy measures. This drove me bonkers and I did not use the lens for long.
