    Hidden in plain sight

    #1

The driver had spotted the ptarmigan and then my cousin spotted an arctic fox off in the distance heading towards them and us. I carefully set myself up to capture the chaos or carnage that was sure to ensue, but no, the fox ran right on by, oblivious or uncaring, I'm not sure which.

We encountered this one on the road and watched it wander into a nearby thicket of willow and feed on the branches.

Thanks, John, Brian and Nandakumar. These guys have feathered legs and feet to help keep them warm; sorry I wasn't able to capture that.

I did have a great time, Ole. All in the rear view window now, but I love this part of the province and intend to go back for more.

Well done. We get these guys once in a while, I have never managed to get shot so I am envious. I did feel sorry for a group several years ago when we got a chinook (warm drying wind) that stripped the snow off the fields. Must be a bit nerve wracking for them to be blazing white in a brown field.
