I have the same problem Jim, when shooting the surfers on the south side of the pier at this time of year. The sun is almost head on since it is so low in the southern sky.
Nice shot though, I like the sun coming thru the wave.

I found nothing wrong, rather an excellent image; The wave shows a translucent lighting effect,which is the raal beauty of this image; why thankless to light?
