Looks like a serious amount of sensor dust in the sky area.

    That looks better.

Good composition. Have you done any work on the right hand lamp at the top of the steps? Or maybe just an odd bit of cloud behind it. Otherwise OK.

nice composition, but the WB looks off to me--too blue. Check the snow, for example. None of us were there, of course, but an adjustment of somewhere around -25 on the yellow-blue axis (photoshop's scale) looks more natural to me.

The other question in my mind is that you have the narrow tonal range and low contrast that is normal under lake-effect conditions, which I assume this is. You might want that, but it is easy to fix if you don't. the image below has only two edits: the -25 WB adjustment, and pulling the white point down using a curves tool. It doesn't convey the gloomy mood that I remember so well from my winters in upstate NY, which you may want to keep, but it does show the details better.

    Hi Geoff,

Yes, a bit of work on that lamp. Thanks for commenting.

I like it. I think the cold blue gives an air of mystery to the image. Reminds me of an old spy movie.

I'm a bit confused: is "Amber Lamps" their trade name or are they just not switched on?

On my un-calibrated (tsk) monitor they look blue with bits of mauve . .

    Hi Ted,

The lamps are blue, the title was more in reference to the setting sun.
