Mike, nicely done. I give the nod to the second one. My guess is that you could not get close enough in #1 and had to leave the power lines in.

Where did you find these beauties?

Quite effective overall feeling to both images. The slight mist adds to the effect.

I do agree about the power lines and pole. And perhaps the contrail as well.

IMHO, the first is a striking image, although I do agree about the pole. Maybe you could remove it.

The second one, however, doesn't sit right with me. It's very dark, seems overprocessed (the clouds), seems out of balance (too much space devoted to the clouds, which have almost no detail near the top anyway), and seems to have too blue a WB. The effect of the darkness and the space devoted to the clouds is to make the interesting detail in the barn less obvious and less the point of focus. The lean on the near side of the barn seems wrong; is that accurate, or is it perspective distortion?

For what little it may be worth, here is a very quick edit to show the the direction I was thinking. I pulled down the white point a bit with a levels tool, dodged the barn, increased contrast, slightly warmed the WB, and cropped some off the top. See if you think these are useful directions. Just my taste, of course.
