Something wonderful!!!
I tend to like the color image better because I can separate the boat, hose water and shoreline better in the color version...
Yes that is exactly my thoughts. A B&W version would have worked well against a plainer background.
... yet I prefer the water and the sky in the mono version, particularly the spray on the RHS. (but agree the boat is better separated in colour/color)I tend to like the color image better because I can separate the boat, hose water and shoreline better in the color version...
Switching back and forth between them in LyteBox makes me think the colour version's WB is too magenta.
Hi John - I like the color in the second photo. And isn't that "Santa's Village" hiding behind the Fire Boat! It is a dynamic picture!
I prefer the B&W version, John, because it tends to make the action more of the focus.
I subscribe to Dave's comments. But it is well known I am a grovelling sycophant and Dave really does scare me!
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the comments, this is probably one of the first images where I saw in black and white but I was thinking color during the capture. I chose a Shade WB to emphasize the primary colors but the spray of the water worked against my best intentions. I wanted to capture vibrant colors but the water hoses changed the cold/misty air to what you see in both versions..
