I've had it for years and generally turn to it when I just want a subtle change to my images. The fact that they are now offering it for free tends to suggest that version 6 will be launched soon (and I will be upgrading it).

My one word of advice, especially when using one of the legacy film filters that add a grain simulation is that you want a very low noise original. Simulated film grain on top of any digital noise looks awful.

Sometimes I want something a bit more than subtle, and some of the more funky filters have surprised me (pleasantly) in the past.

I got Film Pack 1 when I first got DxO, I wasn't that impressed and never upgraded. However, it does seem to offer more than it did way back in ye olden days of about 4/5 years ago.

Think I'll shall have a look.

Well, if you go the the DxO website, it's on offer at £39 reduced from £59. So even if 6 is on the way, free must be better. I just got it for fun

Yes. You should be able to click "English" at the bottom of the linked page. But in any event you have a choice of language when you install.

I got something called Viewpoint. It had Film types in it. Was this a early copy of what is now called Film Pack.

Viewpoint integrated into what was then DxO Optics. Film Pack exists as a Plug-in to Photoshop (or Lightroom or Elements or as a stand alone).

DxO Labs makes two plugins.

1. Viewpoint does perspective corrections; and

2. FilmPack does film emulations.

They can be used as either a standalone or as plug-ins to both Photoshop or DxO PhotoLab.

Yes, the email you receive has a licence code and a link for the download. Once downloaded and installed, input the licence code when you first run the program and you're good to go.
