    Hi Allan,

Thanks for the info, "printer manages" does seem to match the monitor, when I selected "Use ICC Profile" there was a significant tonal shift in the preview image and it matched the output, when I went with "printer manages" image stayed the same as when I imported to the print module.

Re: 2018 Print 52 Shadowman P7 Iguana in the Tall Grass

I've been working on a few prints this week but the one I spent the most time on was NSFW so I found another that would also fit well with my portfolio building project. This was photographed in Key West from a moving vehicle, the reptile sat still while we drove by but the moment the vehicle stopped it slithered into the tall grass. The photo was printed on Canson Edition Etching Rag and because of the near square format I decided to print two images per 17" x 11" sheet so this particular print is 8.5" x 11.0".
    f/8, ISO 200, 1/250sec

    Re: 2018 Print 52 Shadowman P8 Alpaca

This week I've been working on a couple of images for print, I decided to include this one while I work on another challenge.

This image was taken during a city located harvest fest, f/3.5, ISO 400, 1/800sec. I also chose this one as a selection of images I want to include in my portfolio where I used "filling the frame" as a compositional choice and shooting style. I noticed that the majority of my images/framing choices follow a specific a method depending on the subject matter and the danger that taking the photo might put me in. The only danger I could've been in taking this photo would've been a severe nip or a nasty spit or at least I hope so. Image printed 8.5" x 11.0" on Canson Etching Rag.

Nice expression on his face. Makes me wonder about what is he thinking as you look eye to eye with him.

Hi John - I like the iguana pic and marvel how sharp it is considering you were in a moving vehicle! I have enough trouble getting crisp shots when everything is standing still! It is a neat pic too because the fellow is looking back at you as if to say, "well, what's it to ya!"

You are lucky to be this close to the alpaca! +1 to Geoff's comment - I wonder what the alpaca is thinking too! Last summer, I visited the zoo in Columbus Ohio trying to capture creatures. It is nearly impossible to get close to any of them.
    Lucky you! Well done!

    Hi Sandy,

Thanks for the comments, I agree that wondering what thoughts animals have towards us is intriguing, might be similar to our treatment of ants and worms; do we try to avoid stepping on them as a means of coexisting or are we driven by superstition or indifference.

I'm chuckling because it is neither coexisting, superstition or indifference but I avoid them because they "squish" and I detest mashing anything!

Your print of Gold Medal has a nice layout and held my interest! It would be interesting to see these "in person" to get a feel for the paper types used for printing and what sort of results each type of paper gives.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Sandy,

The satin canvas has a dimpled texture with a coating of gloss, the texture doesn't affect the look at all when viewed from a reasonable distance. The problem I could foresee with the dimpled texture is that viewers would want to feel and perhaps squish the canvas. Thanks for commenting.

    Hi John,

I understand perspective is a challenge in this shot, but with the tower being the dominant structure, I suggest you straighten the image on it, and either crop the edge of Kleinhans or let it go to out of plumb. Otherwise, the image is great with the reflection being a key element. You might also think about cropping a bit off the bottom, but then you lose part of the reflection, which may not be what you want of the image. And I DO like the border on this one.

All in all, a nice effort, John. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi John:

There is a lot to like in this image, however I do agree with Zen that the image needs to be rotated to make the vertical correct. Our eyes will be happy to see that the bank curves.

I like the odd angles and the appropriate name for the photo! It works for me!
