Brian I think CiC should start a series of videos on specific skills, and if they did I would nominate you to do one of photographing insects and other small creatures. You are a master...

If my memory serves me I've shot somewhere between 15 and 25 thousand shots of wee beasties. Enough practice is bound to improve anyones skills. I dare say there are better close up bug shooters here than me.

Nevertheless, all the practice in the world wouldn't have gotten me to where I am if I hadn't bought the Tamron 90mm 272E macro lens.

Great shot Brian... Shooting the wee beastie in profile like this solves a lot of problems concerning lack of depth of field in macro work. The black background accentuates the insects coloring...

Great shot. I can hardly wait for spring and bugs to arrive.

The new location has a green bg one way and dark shadowy stones the other way. I should like to get a shot from the rear quarter to catch the head neck connection.

So am I. We have recreated our garden and I'm curious what beasties will arrive.
