    Walk the dogs

This guy was interesting. He was getting ready to go pick up the rest of the pack. Not so sure I'd do this with 9 dogs on the city streets of Chicago, but hey he seemed to have it under control.

Fuji x-pro2 23mm(35 crop). Velvia film simulation.

    No they were not.
I also don’t think running a dog hard on pavement is a good idea. ...

I like the shot and I agree regarding the pavement vs dogs feet...

I guess it is not the first time he has done it but all he needs is a cat or squirrel to get the attention of one of the dogs and he'll be hurting.

Saw it once. Used to be a guy that walked two large dogs regularly in 'Beastmaster' mode outside my apartment. One day, my cat ran across the street - closely pursued by the dogs with the Beastmaster in tow into the nearby field ...

I have a couple of locals with large dogs, straining at the leash as the owners struggle behind. I wonder if the dogs think they are taking the humans for a walk...

Nice shot Sharon... I have no idea what Velvia film simulation is but it looks nice!

Thank you sir. Velvia is Fuji's film simulation (x-pro2 in this case) which is meant to push the extremes of contrast and color. Not meant for most things, but in the case of vibrant street art it works. Otherwise, for street scenes I use Acros mostly (B&W with enhanced detail and contrast).

Yes, dogs often do get enthusiastic with their humans, and want to go go go. We are lucky to off leash our dogs most of the time in the forests and mountains here. They are labs, so they normally stay close and want to carry something.

    Good to know about Velvia!
The problem with walking dogs while riding a bike to me would be if the dogs suddenly decide to go at right angles to the bike...

I have seen people walking dogs with skate boards, but I even saw a fellow in Canada driving a mobility scooter with several dogs in tow. I might add that he was able to spring out of the thing to go get a coffee while the dogs were tied to it.

LOL. Honestly, I feel it's hard on the dogs. I've seen people running dogs hard while riding a bike fast, and the dogs are panting away trying to keep up. On pavement, not kind to the paws nor joints.
Plus, yes it's just dangerous! I wouldn't do it.

Running on tarmac or concrete didn't do much for my joints either...

    😩
Although they do say.... running doesn’t destroy knees. I run trails or in the winter the treadmill. So far my knees are doing okay and I’ve been a runner my whole life (and cyclist).
Fingers crossed. Do weight training as well, to keep those supporting muscles strong.

    Re: Walk the dogs

The thing about trails (assuming they are not concrete or tarmac) is that the ground is softer and in any case fairly uneven, so your strike is not always exactly the same. Even on treadmills I think there is usually some "give" in the design.

I have reassembled arguably the worlds most expensive bike wind trainer - it's got a $5k Cannondale bike on top - and I cycle most days for 30 minutes and I am doing weighted leg extensions - it helps.

Yes you are right. I also run barefoot, or in very minimalist shoes with no heal drop. I am a forefoot striker, and I think all that helps. In track in Indiana we ran on polished concrete in the winter...ouch. Many people got shin splints.
Your plan is quite good. Single leg extensions are good for those supporting muscles.
What you got a hurricane Force wind trainer? I used to use rollers. Thats crazy hard.
