    Street Art 2 (6 images)

Here's a second (and final) set
Fun to be in a City that celebrates this kind of art (at least many people do lol). Photographing them is pretty easy, creating them not so much!

I like the colors. Did you do any black & white versions?

    Thank you PD.
I shot these primarily in Velvia/Vivid film simulation mode. For graffiti the colors and vibrance are often what make the art interesting. I added a bit of HDR in the PP.

I love these because they show the art in relation to the surrounding community.

Very animated colors in all, I like the perspective of the overhead rail lines in 1st, I can't remember a time when they (the rail and trestle) looked so vibrant.

I like the street artist in 2. Simple. Pretty others have used the same place too.

A question about the first picture. Did you correct the dark lights, that viaduct/bridge?

Hi George, thank you for your comments. These were shot in a vibrant over the top kind of film simulation mode, with a small HDR effect in PP (not something I normally like). So, those were corrected when that effect was applied, and it may actually not work that well. The darkness may have told a better story and relayed the scene better. A lot of urban prairie in some of these neighborhoods.

Many people and those so-called helpful utilities try to lighten the dark places. It's killing that game between dark and light, seeing and guessing, what should be in a photo. Well, often, not always. In your last picture I can smell the street. Or is it the bar?
Just off topic, do you know Banksky? I don't know if he's know at your site of the world.

    Go!!!
I like his art. Simple, not overdone, and making you thinking.
He's English but I'm curious if he is known in the US too.

Oh man I wish he would come here! That **** is fantastic. I tend to navigate towards his style he is amazing. I’ve did take few more subtle images in Chicago, but Pilsen is Hispanic and they tend towards more vibrant and loud art. (Not trying to generalize here, just an observation).

I’d love to see this guy here, I did not know of him. Trev, I’m on the next flight to nz. Kidding.

Is Pilsen a neighbourhood in Chicago? I thought it was a pub. Pilsen beer.
Another street photographer: Slinkachu. Google on him. He's using the street as a studio and arranging setups with miniatures. He looks like Bansky too.

Yes Pilsen is a lower west side community known for street art. There are some other really great areas for street in Chicago. Such a huge city with many problems currently. But beautiful architecture and neighborhoods. I follow a lot of street shooters but am intrigued by your mention so thank you!

I was with my brother so didn’t get to explore as much as by myself, but here’s a link to the art within Pilsen.
