High time I said Hi

Hi everyone,

I thought it was about time I said hello to you all. I joined the forum in March last year fully intending to get straight back into my photography, having not done much for a few years, but then ended up continuing to do not very much again until now.

This year I'm planning to get much more motivated :-)

Up until recently my camera of choice was the canon EOS 300D which I used for over 10 years, having previously owned a secondhand 35mm Canon A1. I've now switched camps and have bought a Pentax K50. I had been on the verge of switching to Nikon but when I considered the complete weatherproofing system and inbuilt shake reduction of the Pentax it made much more sense on my budget as I love wildlife photography and would never be able to afford an IS lens.

So, whilst I'm looking forward to viewing all your images, I would particularly like to view shots taken by other Pentax K50 owners as I'm still learning all the secrets of this camera and would love to see what its capable of in expert hands :-)

Welcome Hope to see some of your stuff soon. I don't use a Pentax, but I find the skill set is transferable once you get get past the mechanics of the camera.

I agree with Trevor: while each camera has its idiosyncracies in terms of menus and controls, and while some have a few bells and whistles, most of the skills and techniques people help each other with here are the same with any brand.

Hi Chris. Judging from your pictures on Flickr I would say you know how to handle a camera quite well.

Another Pentax user here (quite a rarity) using a K-1 for just over a year.

Hi Peter, thanks thats very kind of you to say, especially given your own very impressive Flickr portfolio :-)

The more I get used to using my Pentax the more surprised I am at how few Pentax users there are, its a great camera :-)
