Danse des enfants avec baton lumineux

A pretentious title for three grand children (and two dogs) mucking about with glow sticks; twenty second exposure. I did about thirty of these. They wanted to try a number of permutations on the theme.

You're allowed to be pretentious every once in a while, particularly when it relates to such super images. Well done.

    Great images, very imaginative.

Perhaps you could use cloning or use the levels slider to get rid of the non-pertinent parts particularly on the left extremes.

My wife, our daughter and I were trying to come up with a name for this that sounded suitably arty and masked the essential frivolity. This was the best we could come up with on short notice.

If and when it comes time to print (I am thinking of printing one for each child, the dogs did not seem overly impressed and in a fit of pique I am refusing to give them any) I will clean up the extraneous bits

I have not had a lot of luck doing scenes with glow sticks, but have had some interesting results when shooting people using light wands (the LED types). What might be interesting is to manually fire an off-camera flash part way through the exposure, as this adds a "human touch" to the wand-wavers.

I have some good examples of this, but dare not post as some people here might be offended by what the model was not wearing...

I may try the off camera flash, lighting is something I have never explored.

As for people being offended, I am sure that is possible. Cannot please everyone but on this site we are quite conservative I feel.

However: on Gurushots they currently are running a contest category "Human Sensuality" . Quite a few nude images and most are tasteful; however there are occasional images that go into areas I was not even aware existed.

When you put kids and light sticks together, you never really know what you're going to get, do you? So, there seems to be ample opportunity to let the creative juice run wild in post, including imaginative cropping.

Good luck in the next phase, Trev. Will be anxious to see what you can come up with.

As to the fit of pique, I don't blame you. Four foot family can be real dogs!

    Thanks for sharing.

Trevor - I've posted one of the shots discussed in #6 here:

Warning - CONTAINS NUDITY - Carmen & LED Wands

I hope I won't upset too many people, but I think the shot is "Facebook safe".

Trevor - I like the creativity of these photos. Looks like a lot of fun and something to do with the grand-kids! Sometimes, I think they get tired of Grandma trying to get pics of them.... This may strike their fancy!

A note on technique Camera set to manual , twenty second exposure, maximum aperture, ISO 200 and focus locked about where I thought the kids would be. You may have to fool with the settings as this was taken with a Nikon D850 which is really good in low light situations

Hi Trevor - Thanks for the tips on how to try and accomplish this photo op. I chuckled about where the focus point should be! Good luck with that one, eh? Kids being kids! Fun stuff! Yep, thank you!
