    Landscape ~ A New Skill Set ~ Dading's Bougainvillea

    Landscape ~ A New Skill Set ~ Dading's Bougainvillea

The story behind this shot: More than twenty years ago I was assigned as the student pastor in Camp Lookout. At the time there was still a hint of the tribal culture. The Bukid Lola (Mountain Grandmother) gifted us with Bougainvillea. About the same time some Greeners planted Mahogany trees along the road where the church is situated. Over the years the Mahogany tree and the Bougainvillea have done well together.

Nice; you could have shifted more towards the flower bunches to give prominence over that part

Sorry Brian, but this one is not working all that well.

Landscape photography, in my experience, is probably the most difficult photographic genre to do well because there is often no point of interest, so the photographer has use their knowledge of human vision and compositional tools to create an interesting subject.

Shooting the sky, through a couple of trees is generally not going to give you a strong image, without something else of interest going on.

and for me there is a lot of interesting things going on because of my memories. But that won't make it good for everyone Point taken.

Exactly - those are referred to as "documentation" photographs. These are of interest to the photographer and perhaps a few others, but not something others are going to appreciate.

I have an album of when we renovated our house (it got about 40% larger thanks to a second story being put on it). I find it interesting, but not too many other people would be...
