    Walk on the water

Out at Bowman Bay yesterday enjoying a beautiful day hike ...

This was a quick snap with my cell phone. Shadows left dark intentionally.
I do think the foreground could use some lightening. If I had taken it raw on a real camera I may have been able to do more with it.

    Sharon,
This is a wonderful image that has that indescribable quality called "feel" that evokes emotion in the viewer.
The sky is beautiful, and nicely exposed and the subjects in silhouette adds a bit of mystery to the image.
I wouldn't worry about the foreground as it adds nothing to the rest of the shot, and would suggest a severe crop leaving only a thin horizontal line of black beneath the man and dog to "walk" on, and cropping vertically to the right of the small island on our right side of the shot would decentralized the subjects.
Additionally, I'd correct the horizon which falls slightly from our left to right.
    Well seen and taken.

+1 to Robert's comments, especially regarding the foreground. A hard crop to eliminate the distracting light-toned log near the bottom right would definitely strengthen this image.

Yes, the above comments are exactly what I was thinking.

The edit has improved the composition the original has it merits too.
I usually find myself pondering “why didn’t I consider that” when someone suggests a crop on an image of mine.

That looks better to me. If you wanted to, I suspect you could have got away with having just a tiny bit more of a bottom black line.
