Square Lighthouse At Peninsula Point, Upper Peninsula, Lake Michigan

Rather than step on Peter's images, I thought I'd post a picture I did a number of years ago when my wife and I were chasing lighthouses around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The original was a transparency, and was scanned last year to digital using an Epson V850.

I did a number of frames trying to capture the lighthouse so it didn't look like it was falling over, or too far away to lose the characteristics of the brick.

Nice effort, I think it needs a bit of headroom though.

Thanks for your comment. I went back to the original scan and re-cropped it to bring in a bit less grassy foreground, and more blue.

Nice capture Dennis, I've not come across many square lighthouses. Johns suggestion and your re crop works well and gives a better image, well done.
Interestingly yours is brick built which isn't common (in the UK anyway). The only brick built lighthouse that I've made an image of sits on the North Coast of the Outer Hebrides near the "Butt of Lewis" on the Isle of Lewis and Harris. Here's a LINK to it on my website.

I did a quick Google search, and discovered that they're more common than I first thought. It appears brick was a popular material used during the mid-19th century here in the U.S.

The link you provided has some great images!
