Studio Work: Side lit Swirly Background Double Blossom Hibiscus

I tried shooting outside but the wind and the rain put paid to that idea. Came in and went back out after the rain to pick me a blossom. Ended up with this double blossomed Hibiscus. Stuck it's stem to the rim of a semi translucent plastic soup bowl with my trusty plasticine and lined up the flashlight.

I Like the idea of photographing it upside down, and the wet spray always adds interest.

I'm not really sure why the rather murky looking plastic soup bowl has been used, though. It's distracting to work out what it is and why you chose it. Could a piece of white card have been suspended instead and the light shone through?

Plasticine is a handy tool.

I photographed it right side up.

No spray. Brought it in after the rain.

A piece of white card could have been used. But I chose the bowl because to me it's not a distraction but rather an addition. Different strokes for different folks.

No reason you should remember but when I first joined I would on occasion post a Whimsy. They were my first attempts at doing something out of the ordinarily. Seems I'm heading back into that mindset.

My original plan was to do a twenty shot stack. But the Affinity software did a horrible job of stacking. While I waited for my old and trusted Fiji to dl and install I processed the single best shot. Today I processed the 20 shots after stacking in Fiji. I like it.

Plus the soup bowl was white. I actually managed to get a nice reflection of the flowers color on the bowl Fiji is a great stacker.
