She does add a sense of scale but I think the composition would work without her presence.

I'm afraid that this image does not really work for me. The lady does provide a sense of scale, but she is out of focus to a degree which I find too distracting. Additionally the bench to the left of the image is a further distraction taking my attention out of the image.

Perversely though, I like the rather dreamy and ethereal feel that the image has overall.

Having a person in a scene, where he or she is not the subject will usually strengthen the image, but the figure needs to have a substantive impact on the composition, without overpowering it and becoming the subject.

Here the figure is simply not significant enough to have the effect this image needs. A bit closer and a bit more engaged (perhaps by looking towards the camera), and this would have been a stronger composition.

I agree with John. The lady adds scale but little else. The bench on the left should be rid of.

I do like the texture of the walls.

For me, I think this would work with a slight crop from the left side and bottom.
