I'm all for a tight crop when you've got the detail of the talons and the scales on the fish

I am not as expert as the others, whose comments must count for more. But this shot does it for me. Hones in on the 'story' to be told, focussing my attention with distracting peripheral details cropped out. For me a instance when tight cropping really works a treat. Very nice capture being my opinion.
