Omega Seamaster 1970s Megaquartz 32 KHz Mariner Caliber 1310 *Watch Photoshoot*

An elegant chunk of metal from the 70's. This was the first battery powered quartz movement by Omega. Watch is fully functioning and well preserved, metal strap is not original.

To photograph this one more care was needed to avoid bothersome reflective highlights.

Taken with the Canon 5DIV and Canon Macro 100mm f/2.8 L lens. As always feel free to click on any image to see a better version. Thanks.

Can you remove the back? The workings of these can provide attractive macro shots.

Unfortunately Bill, his Omega watch is a quartz model and quartz movements can be less attractive than mechanical ones.

For example, a Stocker and Yale P660 Navigator military watch:

Small image but please note the difference in size between the movement and the case - quite common with big watches of the quartz genre.

Exactly. The backside is not too attractive. This one has the importance of been the first battery powered watch from Omega. If you would like to see an attractive quartz watch I could show you later a Bulova 914 Spaceview model with its wonderful tuning fork based mechanism.

Thank you, that would be interesting. I've never owned one.

    I agree with Ted.

On a different point, I'm curious what aperture(s) you used for the photos in post #1. Were any of the images focus stacked?

An interesting set of photos. Thank you for posting them.

Hi Chaman, May i ask witch bracelet you used as an alternative for the original. It looks really good and i still couldn't get my hands on a original 1310 bracelet. thanks for the beautiful pictures btw.

The finishing of the dial isn't good at all, ilast year and have bought new, the thing i like the most about it is that the dial looks amazing. That's my own perception so never mind if someone likes Omega seamaster.
