    A Spring Cube

Today I was thinking about the spring blossoms that are just starting to come out here. Most pics we see are the same in that we see images of blossoms on the trees. I decided to try a different approach with a 3d cube and placing images of blossoms on the cube. First time I have tried this technique so I am interested to hear what others think of it. I am not sure that I have the right images in the cube and if I were to try something like this again I would do the gradients differently to have less of a bright area on the front corner.

Nice concept, I would brighten the corner at back, the dark tone makes the edge look to prominent and you lose a bit of the 3-D effect.

Rita - while this is an interesting concept, what is missing for me is an interesting background.

The flowers were laid out on the cube quite nicely, but the rather plain background that seems to have no relationship with the flowers really stands out. If you could come up with a more interesting background that fits with the flower theme, you would have a stronger image.

Morning Rita, would you consider keeping the very minimalist bg but changing it's color" Something soft and subtle that would enhance the cube and help it to stand out a bit more?

    Re: A Spring Cube

Thanks for the comments Manfred and Brian. I am going to have to work on the bg some more. What I have here for a bg is the image of the blossoms that I blurred. I did originally blur it less so the blossoms could just be seen but it looked quit busy. I do agree that it needs some more work and I am going to keep playing with it.

Thank you Brian and John. Sometimes we just need the eyes of others to get is a different direction.

The cube has gotten smaller in the newest version of the image. Making it more prominent and doing something more interesting with the background would continue the evolution of this image.

Very nice concept. I agree with Manfred about the size - bigger = better.

    Re: A Spring Cube

Manfred, I totally missed the sizing on the re-edit. I am going to play with this idea some more because there is an image in my head that I want to try. This started out as a practice run on the technique. It is such great fun trying out new ideas, practicing them, and at some point succeeding.

    Very nice Rita.
I like your second edit best, background, position off the flowers on the cube.
But I find the background 'competing' for attention with the cube.
Maybe a bigger cube ( as already mentioned) and/or toning down the brightness from the upper left corner a bit could be worth a try.
