    I think it works well, I love adding related atmosphere with a film of something related to the main content.

    It does remind me of my below "Attended Service Only" (to which a judge commented "taken through a very dirty car window" - oh well)

    Mark - I find that these grungy overlay modifications have to be handled very carefully as they really have to suit the image. Both shots are simply too bright for this treatment to work well. The mood of the image needs to match what the effect is doing to it.

    It's hard to see it ever working with the art gallery shot and the second shot might have worked better had it been taken at blue hour.

    The only time I use this type of effect tends to be in moody composite images, for example:
