First light with the new camera

First light with the new camera

A couple of weeks ago I spotted this plant at the side of the road. Then it was a weed. Now it is a flower. There will be a colour version of this shot coming to a theater near you in the near future.

The first thing that surprised me was that now I'm playing with 6000px across and 4000 down. Could just be my vivid imagination but I think the IQ is superior to the a58.

It is a little heavier but it does fit nicely in the hand.

the focus magnification has moved up which makes it easier in the mid range to focus but a tad harder in the high range.

the displays work a little differently but they also work a bit more intuitively.

All in all it's a definite step up.

As promised the colour version. M'Lady believes it should be happier. Perhaps she is right but...

First light with the new camera

I figured out how to clone out the annoying white area using Capture 1

Thanks, it is still the intro level translucent mirror model. But it could well allow me to reach the next level if today's shooting was anything more than a lucky fluke.

Looks nice. I prefer the B/W version myself.

The repaired colour version works for me, Brian. The white area on the bottom left is distracting and the image works a lot better after your repair. I find you have lost too much in the B&W conversion.

I agree with Manfred - for me this image is more interesting and appealing in colour. Perhaps consider also sending the small pinkish blob (bottom right) out of the frame?

    Cheers.

Brian, I am sure that you know this but these days, most printed camera manuals that come with cameras are severely edited. If you want the whole story, download the manual as a pdf file...

Lovely shot, Brian. The color version. Cloning out the white spot made a huge improvement.

We agree abut the gain in eliminating the white area. For my taste the B&W has a power the colour doesn't but the colour has such incredible richness and depth.
