    Wabi-sabi: a beginning

    Wabi-sabi: a beginning

To perfectly photograph imperfection. I'm sure it is possible. I am looking forward to the challenge. Actually I'm looking forward to understanding the concept and then photographing it.

    Good start, old man.

I once shot a large decaying leaf on a lawn-chair seat fabric and was inundated with comments on cigarette holes in the seat, DOF and moiré, etc.

So much for the wabi-sabi in that shot

    Cool.

I got into it with watches, Brian.

They use the term a lot - as in, for example, an old watch with honest wear-and-tear is far more respectable than that very same watch "restored" to perfection. Which is why my 'Lancet' wristwatch has half the radium paint missing from the hands:

    ... lots of 'sabi'

Same with antique furniture which loses lots of financial value as soon as someone puts a lick of polyurethane varnish on it ...
