We have had a very sad week over here.
Our much loved and cherished Golden Retriever went to sleep on
Sunday afternoon.
She would have been 15 at the start of June, I was hoping for a special
celebration as she reached that milestone, as she was quite well until now.
Friday afternoon, she had a slight nose bleed, which stopped quickly &
all was well on Saturday.
Sunday morning we woke up, to find her with bleeding we couldnʼt stop.
A rush to the Vet, where we hoped a foreign body lodged there was the
cause.
That wasnʼt to be and under anaesthetic, examination and X-rays, revealed a mass eroding the tissues was the cause.
Sometimes the hardest decision is the best one.
We had never had a dog before Dream, so I didnʼt want to get a puppy
when we had no idea how to train one.
We looked after a friendʼs Golden while they were on holidays & that
sold me on the breed.
I joined the GR club in our state and found breeders who kept 2 from
their litter until 12 months then decided which to keep for showing and
or breeding.
Ironically Dream was chosen as the one to keep and breed with out of
the litter, only to find when she had her X-rays at 12 months that her
Hip score was ‘averageʼ so the owner decided that she shouldnʼt breed
with that score, but should be fine as a family pet.
She was more than fine, she was simply wonderful.
I hope the Dog Lovers on the forum will indulge me with sharing these images.
She was a happy participant in my portrait photography training (gold
side of filter).
Then this was her Birthday portrait for her 13th Birthday
We will always miss her and cherish the memories of our time with her, she was always smiling..
