"Gold Dog Alpine I'm a Dreamer" (Dream)

We have had a very sad week over here.
Our much loved and cherished Golden Retriever went to sleep on
    Sunday afternoon.
She would have been 15 at the start of June, I was hoping for a special
celebration as she reached that milestone, as she was quite well until now.

Friday afternoon, she had a slight nose bleed, which stopped quickly &
    all was well on Saturday.
Sunday morning we woke up, to find her with bleeding we couldnʼt stop.
A rush to the Vet, where we hoped a foreign body lodged there was the
    cause.
That wasnʼt to be and under anaesthetic, examination and X-rays, revealed a mass eroding the tissues was the cause.
Sometimes the hardest decision is the best one.

We had never had a dog before Dream, so I didnʼt want to get a puppy
when we had no idea how to train one.
We looked after a friendʼs Golden while they were on holidays & that
    sold me on the breed.

I joined the GR club in our state and found breeders who kept 2 from
their litter until 12 months then decided which to keep for showing and
    or breeding.

Ironically Dream was chosen as the one to keep and breed with out of
the litter, only to find when she had her X-rays at 12 months that her
Hip score was ‘averageʼ so the owner decided that she shouldnʼt breed
with that score, but should be fine as a family pet.
She was more than fine, she was simply wonderful.

I hope the Dog Lovers on the forum will indulge me with sharing these images.

She was a happy participant in my portrait photography training (gold
    side of filter).

Then this was her Birthday portrait for her 13th Birthday

We will always miss her and cherish the memories of our time with her, she was always smiling..

Sorry to hear of your loss, Kay. Their lives are shorter than ours but they leave us with life long memories. She was a beautiful lady and you did her proud in these photos.

    Kay,

I mourn for your loss. Losing a beloved companion causes emotional and physical pain.

Your images of Dream will keep her alive in your mind. I have photos on my walls of all the wonderful friends that I have lost and they really help me...

The story of the "Rainbow Bridge" still brings me to tears, even though I have read it many times...

    Best wishes in your loss...

I'm very sorry and sad to read this post, and for the loss of your beautiful pup. 15 is amazing for a large breed dog, she must have been well cared for. We are not too far from making the same decision for our 11 year old yellow lab boy.
Thank you for posting the beautiful photos of your beloved companion.

    Thank you Richard,
The Rainbow Bridge is a lovely theme, I am hoping to choose a suitable photo of Dream, for printing as you suggest.

Thank you Sharon, we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the joy of having a dog in our family.
We are hoping the memories will now get us through the sadness.

Sorry for your loss. What a happy looking dog. Living with you obviously brought her great happiness.

I'm sorry to read about the loss of your wonderful friend. I'm sure you gave her a wonderful life. We lost two dogs in a one year period. Nothing takes the sting out of it except another pooch.

Thank you Peter and Paul, yes she was special.
I am glad that I stood my ground with hubby and we adopted our second Golden before we lost Dream.
Mali is 3 years old, we have had her for 18 months, the 2 of them together were a joy to behold
