    Departure

I liked this image because there were no people but the lugage would suggest otherwise. There is mystery afoot here. C&C most welcome.

    Re: Departure

This is a challenging scene to shoot, as the walls on the left hand and right hand side are quite light coloured. The human visual system has evolved to home in on areas of significant brightness or contrast. If these are at the edges of the the frame, they often don't get to the subject matter that the photographer wants us to look at. I wonder if a strong crop might not help in this shot?

Exactly my first thoughts about this image. I did wonder about cropping the walls and leaving the step in place but, to me, a single step doesn't add anything except distraction.

When I did the crop, I started with the sides and left the stair in. It didn't work as well as the version with out it. In fact, I think cropping to the line is probably even better.

Interesting subject Ole, enhanced by the crop.

My idea of leaving the steps was to suggest departure. Manfred's final edit is better I must admit.
    Cheers Ole
