    A very laid back model

    A very laid back model

The new camera does work well in the shadows.

Nice capture Brian. Caught the natural colours of Tibouchina, good DOF - a simple and pleasing image

And now I know the name I'm trying to do separate layers for each colour. When it works right it's nice.

Capture 1 put out an update. Now both my camera and my lens are supported. That plus the 'proofing' mode is beginning to make a difference.

I think only the purple and green portion is the stamen (green portion-antera) and the yellow the pistil, perhaps we have some flora experts within the forum.

    I do like it Brian,

If it were mine, I'd crop the left hand side to remove the entire 'curvaceous triangle' that contains the blue item, since I feel that places the main subject better in the frame.

I think you may have reduced the brightness of the bright background, but not the two slithers peeking through the petals - I'd tone them down too, since they're now (although very small in area), the brightest things in the whole photo.

    Hope my musings help,
    Dave

I did not see the blue item until after I posted here. I shoot in B&W so I don't see possible colour problems when I shoot. I'll return to shooting in colour.

I did do an overall mask of the background but I missed the slivers. I think this is your fault. Forever reminding me to clean up the edges but never once mentioning the need to clean up the center!

Actually I have missed your musings.
