    Provider for my photography website

    Hello everyone,
Marianne here with a question. I am in the process of looking for a provider for my photography website and I am wondering what providers do you use? The industry leaders seem to be wix and squarespace, but there are also website providers that are SPECIFICALLY for photographers such as for example "Format". I am looking, as I am sure all photographers do, to display my portfolio, but some providers also offer online store which may or may not be helpful with the process of actually selling the digital images and prints. So from your experience which providers are best? Thank you very much for your help,
    Marianne

Wordpress, Wix and SquareSpace are all sites I have used. I'm building a website using SquareSpace, but unfortunately, I haven't spend the time to finish things up. In my view, it is probably the most flexible of the three.

The photographic component is really driven by how things are set up than the anything else.

If your major objective is sales (which, by the way, your major objective is not clear in your OP), then the Web Designer and Web Manager which our Company employs is irrelevant.

What is relevant is you need to choose a specialist who can tailor SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and address other detailed facets specifically for what you want to sell and to whom. I suggest that this IT Specialist is local to you. (i.e. so you can meet face to face).

Additional, fundamental and prior to this step, you need to develop notable Brand, such that all your Marketing Streams (of which your Website is only one) coexist harmoniously within that Stream.

If your main aim is to show off your Photos; you want inexpensive or free and any sales are 'a bonus', then, I suggest that you go with the one which makes 'buying' the easiest experience for the Potential Customer. I don't know which that would be.

I have duplicated this response on another site where you posted the same question.

    Good luck with your venture.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am gravitating towards squarespace as well.
