    An amazing life winding down

Our Yellow Lab on our hill above our house. (not a great cell phone pic, I was sitting up there with him).

Cancer is not a fun battle - human or pet. Osteosarcoma is especially evil.
You can see the swelling in his limbs from Hypertrophic Osteopathy (a not very well understood manifestation that happens infrequently with lung metastasis in particular).

I do wish some day they would find a cure for cancers. Doesn't seem soon enough though.
We've had many dogs, this one will be the hardest to let go. I'm pretty sure it will be NLT end of month.

    Thanks for looking.

I am sorry to learn about your dog. Pets become members of one's family and it is always difficult to lose one. Even in deteriorating health, it is evident from the photo of your dog that he was well cared for and loved. It is a beautiful portrait of him.

Oh my goodness, Sharon. So sorry for your family. It's so hard to lose them. No doubt he brought you a lot of joy over the years to remember him by. Those are the things to remember.

Those of us who have had dogs know what it's like. Don't let it suffer.

This picture will be a wonderful memory.

    Thanks for the kind comments.
He’s is 9 months post diagnosis. Not much suffering other than from a couple of vet errors.
The spark has not left the eyes yet but it will I know (he’s a very vibrant dog...always thought he’d be our 15 year lab).
We are happy we let him keep the leg (distal ulna so not weight bearing so radiation eliminated any pain).
He’s a great dog who made a lot of friends in his life.

    Sharon,
I know what you are going through and you and your family are in my thoughts.
I recently had to put down one of our kitties due to what was likely cancer, after he became visibly ill and wasted away in a matter of weeks.
The loss or impending loss of a beloved pet is never a good time.
