    Hummer with flash

I used hot-shoe flash reduced to 1/16th power to stop the action. Usually get a little "ghosting" because enough ambient light sneaks through to show transparent wing motion, but I don't mind because I'm not patient enough to use multiple flashes:

Lovely. I'm not patient enough to use flash at all.

Nicely done... I am not patient enough to shoot the hummers hovering around my yard...

    Re: Hummer with flash

Thanks. When I want to try shooting them, I usually take a book as well as a camera into the backyard, sit in the shade, and wait. I prefer hummers at flowers, and have hummer-attracting plants in nearby pots. But when they are at the feeder, I try to catch them just as they have backed away. That enables me to keep the feeder out of those shots.
