Mama Robin
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a robin consistently hanging around very close when I'm out working on my boat(on a trailer). So I looked around and located a nest site under construction nearby. I've been keeping an eye on it and even after it appeared complete it stayed vacant for a few days. Then today I noticed a head poking up above the edge of the nest. And of course the slightest excuse brings out the camera
I did not realize that robins use mud in their nest construction.

Re: Mama Robin
Final update on the robins. I was amazed at how fast the chicks fledged and got out of the nest. Shortly after posting the last image we went away for a week and when we returned they were out of the nest. Our bird dog, Grace, found one of the fledglings in a plastic bin that was sitting in the yard. There was an inch or two of water in the bottom and apparently while learning to fly the poor thing landed in the bin and couldn't get out. It appeared to still be quite healthy albeit somewhat damp. I took it out of the bin and carried it back to the nest tree. Mom and dad robin promptly flogged my about the head and shoulders for my efforts. What is that saying? The path to hell is paved with good intentions.... Anyway, another clutch of birdies is preparing to make the long trip south.
