Well taken and well titled. You're really nailing the detail at you focal point these days.
Burning down the large bright area near the bottom right would help here Brian. It is a large distracting element. I don't know what it is, but had you been able to remove it or compose without it being in the image, you would have had a much stronger shot. There are some more minor ones towards the top left that need burning down as well.
Ideally, spotting and eliminating these issues while framing the shot is usually the best approach.
Bright and high contrast areas tend to distract, as they pull the viewer's eyes away from the subject. A frame tends to be contiguous and frames all of the image, not just a corner. How are you coming along on the two online photography courses you were looking at going through? I suspect that they will cover material like this.
