Had an amazing day yesterday. Visited a high country run (sheep station). There was a temperature inversion. Below the clouds was as thick as soup; above the clouds the scenery was stunning. This picture is a sample that highlights my question. Why is the cloud blue and what can I do about it? The picture was taken in Raw format and I used a stand alone version of lightroom.
I think you have the answer to the questions you are asking, the question we would have is: does the scene as presented here look to you as it did on that day? What WB were you using and did you modify color temperature upon import?
You got me thinking John. Here is the Raw file. The WB was daylight. It was not long before blue hour. In other shots the shade has a strong tint of blue. I cannot remember if I had a cpl on or off. In my memory the cloud did have a slight blue tinge, but not overpowering.
By using the adjustment brush to highlight the blue cloud I dropped the saturation well off and played about with the exposure, white ballance etc and got an acceptable result.
Your adjustments definitely changed other colors within the composition and in doing so perhaps intensified the contrast between the blue cloud and golden slopes.
