    Algae, rocks and wood

May be a bit idiosyncratic, but when I saw this I was fascinated, and still am, by the harsh textures and tones of the algae on the above water rocks and wood which then immediately soften underwater

I can see where your fascination is coming from with the above water textures but for me there is too much hazy underwater space.

I can appreciate your observation, thought quite a bit about the crop and how much water to leave. I finally settled on this because I really quite like the water colour and the contrast between the rough and smooth. A tighter crop I found made the wood and rock textures overly harsh, needed to back off to decrease the stark nature.

Nice idea, Trevor, but I think you need to simplify it. There is too much going on in the frame

I occasionally need to push my boundaries; some will work, some will not. And sometimes I need listen to my internal critic to assess whether a thing is worth pursuing.

Trevor, I love these kinds of photos. Maybe push the above water elements or the opposite, push the underwater elements. I do not think you can create 'balance' in this kind of picture. Have fun.

    Cheers Ole
