Announcement from DxO re Nik and PhotoLab

Welcome to me, anyway. I'd far rather pay for a properly supported product.

The link to download the NIK package is not being recognised.

EDIT - If you just go into the DXO website you soon to get where you need to be.

I signed up with DXO a few weeks ago but, I do not have the time right now to work with the new NIK software. I am glad that NIK is being supported though.

That is not good news. Hopefully you will be out soon and back to doing the things you enjoy.

Re: Announcement from DxO re Nik and PhotoLab

Just a quick update on DxO Nik.

I've bought and downloaded the software and have spent the past hour or two working with it. At first glance I see no difference in terms of functionality, versus the Google product. The user interface sports the DxO Labs logo and "look". I do not see any new functionality or improvements in speed. I had hoped that at a minimum that DxO Labs would have ported their "Prime" noise reduction functionality over to Nik, but have not.

I'm hoping that we see some improvements over the next year in point releases, because there is nothing obvious happening here. I have not had any issues running the software under the latest OS releases, so don't know if they refreshed the code base to clean up known issues / bugs.

    Manfred,

Thanks for the information. Looking at their website, I couldn't see much to motivate me to buy it. Using the Google version, I have had no compatibility problems with either Windows 10 64-bit or Adobe CC (knock on wood). I'm delighted that they are going to maintain the software and will be happy to pay for an upgrade when they offer a substantial one, but I think I will wait for now.

Dave--I hope you are on the mend.

Manfred, is the DXO version of Nik available through the Filters menu in PS?

Yes. Identical to the Google version that way.

I just received an email from Nik saying that there was an error at the eStore site and I downloaded the old version. A new link was provided and I installed it. Other than having to input the serial number I received when I purchased the software, I see no difference in the two versions. The new version download is smaller; 387MB versus for 437MB for the previous version.

I am reluctant to install the new Nik Collection until I know whether it is still compatible with Capture One. Has anyone tested?

Sorry to hear about your hospitalization, Dave. I have been making altogether too many visits to that institution myself. Hope you will be back behind the camera soon.

Did DXO Photo Lab come with the NIK software or do I need to purchase it separately... I cannot seem to find it in DXO nor can I find the "U-Point" Technology that is associated with NIK on my DXO program.

I have DXO Photo Lab and Photoshop CC installed and working on my computer. I want to be able to use NIK with both programs.

BTW: Robin Whalley has put out some pretty decent books on the various NIK Software modules, I have Kindle editions of these.

He has a recent YouTube video on the new NIK suite...

They are separate products and have to be purchased separately.

Look at the help section here: http://help-photolab.dxo.com/en/deta...Control-points

So far as I can tell, the Nik Collection is only designed for integration with Adobe products. Frankly, from a workflow standpoint it makes a lot more sense to me to use the tool in Photoshop than it does in PhotoLab.
