Thank you Katy. They are good only because they were so still. Two days later one of them is still in the same position (probably with rigor mortis) on my veranda- always helpful with macro work.

    Hi Nasseem and John,

You have both posted great pairs of images - I can see I am going to have to raise my game to keep up

Not many bugs about at the moment (on my side of the world)

    Dave,

That is a beautiful bug. I would be tempted to crop it. I am sure you can teach me a lot more than I can teach you at least in photography.
    Happy new year.

Re: It's a Small World (share your macros!)

    Hey Geoff,
i have question for you: I used to use an Olympus Om4-t with a 35-70 lense on it then I had three extension tubes 7,14,24 I believe, and I got the shots I wanted. I recently started using my first digital camera; a Canon EOS rebel xsi with an 16-55mm lens.
I need to get closer to things and I am afraid to buy extension tubes as I know I would get dust on the sensor. I will be dusty fields and I am not very good at being careful. Can you give me a recontamination on what lens to buy macro wise? I used to use all three extension tubes in different combos.... I appreciate any advise you can give me!
    Thanks!
    Sparkle

P.S. I'm not looking to buy the most expensive as this is the company camera I am learning on, but obviously if it takes a shabby picture that would be frustrating...

Not exactly as close as all these little buggies, but still pretty close.

It's a Small World (share your macros!)

    Nikon D7000 w/Tamrom 70-300 Macro Zoom at 300mm f/8 @ 1/80 ISO 320

Then I got to playing with some B&W variations...dangerous times...

So....tell me about reverse lens technique...I am trying to get my head around reversing a lens that only goes into the camera one way....or does it?
