Overall, a nicely done image. The tones of the coat nicely complement the autumn colours in the background.

This is one of those images where adherence to the "Rule of Thirds" is not working particularly well. When I throw the thirds lines on the image, they are well aligned with the eyes of the subject.




In a portrait, the eyes are often a very important part of the composition, but in a 3/4 shot, they play a smaller compositional role than the whole head and face do. By applying this rule of composition, you have an image that is looking a bit top-heavy and unbalanced, with a lot of yellow and brown leaves at the top of the frame. I would suggest that this compositional rule is not particularly effective the way it has been applied here.

I would suggest filling the frame with more of the subject by doing a crop of the top of the image is going to result in a stronger picture. The rule of thirds does not work, but rather the effective use of complementary colours (another compositional technique) is effective.

Lovely lady (I should say "beautiful Lady") and lovely colors. her outfit and the background colors complement each other very well I totally agree with Manfred and was going to mention the crop but, he beat me to it...

I really like the tilt of her head and the fact that her torso is at a slight angle to the camera rather than being full on.

I have to respectfully disagree when it comes to the crop. I understand where everyone is coming from however it is nice to see portraits that allow enough background to really set more atmosphere. Plus it's a nice change from the standard crop that everyone (including myself) usually does. Just my opinion. Really nice shot. I like it.
