    Perceptual keeps the relation between the different colors constant. Is also the advised rendering intent for images as far as I know.

    Your view on Perceptual Intent is correct. Both it and Relative Colorimetric are the recommended intents for photographic work.

    Most people do what Ed suggests and work with Relative Colorimetric as the default. I've discussed this with a "Master Printer" who feels that this might be little more than the current fashion as he remembers a time where most people would default to Perceptual.

    Update... I obtained an HP M553n which boasts 1200 x 1200 resolution. It significantly outperforms the HP M452 600 x 600 especially in fine detail and continuous tones. I am happy with it thus far. It weighs about 67lb and requires a generous space. More later...
