    Having a camera handy

Little Bennie (a Spaniel + Maltese mix puppy) is really a pistol to photograph. He is exceptionally lively and will seldom cooperate for the camera. However, I noticed him sitting on a patio chair in open shade with a floor mat hanging over the back of the chair.

The lighting was good and Bennie was in a cooperative mood for a change. Luckily, I had a camera ready and was able to get this portrait...

    6D Mark-2, 70-200mm f/4L IS at 127mm. ISO 200, f/4 at 1/15 second

IMO, with kids and pets, you should always have a camera ready to capture moments like this...

I mentioned in another posting My Take On The New Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS Mark-II Lens that the Image Stabilization of my 70-200mm f/4L IS lens does a satisfactory job for me. This image was shot at 127mm using 1/15 second shutter speed.

    Here's Bennie at 100%

He looks smart, clever "face" expression. Beautiful both the main photo and the cropped version.

Hi Richard - nice capture of Bennie's expression! And I completely agree, having a camera in hand when grand-kids or pets are near, is a must. Documenting the change in our grandchildren has been a passion of mine so they and their parents can have a nice photo collection to remember their "growing up" years. I didn't have this for mine and I really miss the visual history.

So yes, camera is ready whenever grand kids are around!

I won't say that my wife is a neatness freak - well... Pretty close I guess

The one thing that she doesn't mind laying around is my camera since I use it so often... Having a camera stowed away in your bag is like having your first aid kit locked up in your safe. It won't be available when you need it and you can never tell when you will need the first aid kit or the camera

I've clicked on this a couple of times now and that dog's eyes just make him an adorable creature.
    Good shot!
