HP started using pigment ink in the popular models too. https://store.hp.com/us/en/vwa/inkje...prnttyp=InkJet
Some of them have only pigment black, others have 4 pigment based cartridges. Maybe there're also with 5, extra black, colors. You've to open the specs.
For me HP is important for it has a PCL driver standard installed.

I can understand this is you are using a single printer for everything.

In my case I have a colour laser printer for printing documents and use my photo printer for printing pictures.

I hardly use the HP printer. For my daily use I use a Brother laserjet which has replaced the HP 4L Laserjet. And that's when I found out about the PCL drivers. Photos I've printed by a printservice. Better and cheaper.

As you are not using a photo grade printer at home, then I would agree that using a commercial photo print service would give you better quality at a good price.

For me that is not the case; the mass market photo printers do not deliver the quality I am looking for and the specialty printers that would meet (or exceed) the quality I am looking for are extremely expensive so doing my own give me the cost and quality I am looking for.
